Magriet served as chairperson of SAALAA for eight years and represented South Africa at the World Champions for Carnivores from Boat in 2019. Ever since I can remember. I would always fish alongside my dad at Bloemhof Dam. - Why did you start fishing?
I love the challenge that fishing brings. It is not similar to a physical sport and requires a lot of strategic thinking which makes the challenge fun. - What do you enjoy most about fishing?
I love that a person can be out in nature. It is peaceful and relaxing to be on the water. - Why do you do lure fishing?
It is a nice clean and challenging sport. - What is your biggest/best catch ever?
My best catches are a bass weighing in at 3,64kg and a catfish weighing 13,45kg.. - What are your favourite fish and your favourite dam to fish at?
I love catching catfish, bass, mackerel and kurpers. - What was the most enjoyable tournament you ever fished and why?
The SA’s at the Vaal River in 2022 and our Region 5 on the Zambezi River against Namibia. - Do you spend a lot of time fishing?
I try and get out as much as I can. - How expensive is the sport you practice?
Very expensive due to the equipment needed. - What support do you get from your family?

Yes, if you enjoy fishing and like a challenge. - What are your favorite lures?
I like the Salmo and Sada lures. - How does it feel to have Protea colours?
It feels amazing. I received my Protea colours for Manager of Teams and as part of the Ladies Protea Team. - What achievements have you achieved in fishing?
Over the past 8 years I was chairperson of SAALAA.
I presented South Africa during the World Champions for Carnivores from Boat in 2019.
I received honorary provincial colours as part of the provincial A-team.
